Gennarino Scugnizzo Di Capri

is visible on a large boulder overlooking the sea the bronze statue Of “Gennarino, O ‘Scugnizzo di Capri”. The statue of Gennarino is also called the statue of welcome, the tradition that greet, above all, the women who come to Capri by sea.

White Grotta

It derives its name from white incrustations of calcareous matter upon its sides, and from clusters of white stalactites which hang from the roof and fringe the entrance. The cave faces east and is situated near the Punta della Chiavioa. The entry, about 70–80 feet (21–24 m) high, leads into upper and lower caves, of which the former is not easily accessible. The lower cave can be entered by boat for a short distance. Unlike most other caves at the water-level, it is much broader at approximately 6 feet (1.8 m) above the water than actually at the surface. The total height is no more than 24 feet (7.3 m). The upper erosion line is clearly marked near the cave and within it. The upper cave seems to belong to an earlier period.[1]

According to the book The Sicilian by Mario Puzo, the Grotta Bianca is where Salvatore Giuliano, the famous Sicilian bandit, stayed during his first nights as an outlaw after shooting dead an armed national policeman. Although the book is dramatized, many believe some information in it is true, with regards to Giuliano

Villa Malaparte

is a house on Punta Massullo, on the eastern side of the isle of Capri, Italy. It is one of the best examples of Italian modern and contemporary architecture.

The house was conceived around 1937 by the well-known Italian architect Adalberto Libera for Curzio Malaparte.[2] Malaparte actually rejected Libera's design and built the home himself with the help of Adolfo Amitrano, a local stonemason.

The light house, 'faro' in Italian, was built in 1866. The second tallest in Italy (after Genoa), it is among the most important of all those guarding over the Tyrrhenian Sea . At Punta Carena the seabed descends extremely quickly and, at only 500 meters from the coast, is already 600 meters deep.

Entrance by rowing boat not included nor guaranteed. Sea must be very calm and tide low.
If the waiting time is over 45 minutes the crew reserves the right to go back to the port. A free ride to use later in the day is than granted.

We came from Amalfi to Capri with a ferry. At the pier you will see the booth where you can buy your tickets. It’s only for the boat tour around Capri and Anacapri. For the blue grotto experience you have to pay right at the spot if it’s open on that day. Our tour was amazing. All commentary was in Italian but my husband translated for me the main points. You can take breathtaking photos and videos. They will take you to see the white, red and green grotto, Faraglioni (the rock formations with the arch- you will go through it with the boat) and other sites (art statue on the rock, villa, lighthouse and caves from far away). When you finally arrive to Blue Grotto, you may choose if you want to pay extra and go in or not (if you are not claustrophobic, don’t even hesitate! It’s magical!). Time-wise it was exactly 2 hours as promised. We left at 12 and came back at 2 PM. My advice is to take sunglasses and a hat and apply sunscreen because you are going to be exposed to sun at all times. And have comfortable clothing and shoes because if you do the Blue Grotto, you gonna have to climb out of the boat you are in to the smaller one and lay on the bottom of it. Also, you may get a little bit wet from the waves.

When I booked this tour for E19 I was told we would only go past the Blue Grotto due to high tide but would see the others. Didn't matter to me.

I was expecting a small ferry but we got a water taxi type boat similar to those in Venice. No safety vests, wooden seating around the boat and the captain steering in the middle. Was sitting very low in the water. We were 15 people plus the skipper.

It was an adventure to say the least! Super choppy at times, but I don't mind that but it was clear some were scared and held on for dear life. There was plenty to see and photograph. We even saw how they get the diving instructor and their dingy back by pulling it along behind us.

Commentary was in English and Italian only.

It is advertised for 1.5hrs, but went for almost 2, so make sure you have enough time to make your ferry home.

Most of the better photo opportunities were for those sitting on the right side of the skipper. *Keep an eye out for - the tiny Jesus, little mermaid waving and the lighthouse.

Clothing: I highly recommend a hat, wind jacket, scarf and sun screen.
Camera: definitely, I kept my phone well away as I was too worried that it would fall in the ocean.
Tips: some gave and some didn't

I would highly recommend the end of day tour as we got our moneys worth despite not seeing the Blue Grotto.

The blue Grotto was incredible ! There was no wait to get in as I booked the first boat at 9:30 . Beautiful tour of island . I would have given 5 stars if not for the boat captain who was very annoyed when I asked him to translate his commentary in English too .

Don't be fooled the Blue Grotto is extra

This was a great way to see the sights of Capri and I would recommend it for 18 euros, but no matter what promises are made at the dock you Will and I mean Will pay more to get inside the blue grotto. That is if the grotto is open to enter, any wind the night before causes the waves to rise and close the opening. Remember the opening is only over a metre wide and high and if you get in you only spend a couple of minutes in there. How do you get into the grotto when you pull up n the large tour boat, easy you transfer to a small whaler. Is this included in the price NO, they can charge you up to 40 euros for the experience. So you paid the extra for your bucket list activity and que with every other boat to get into the grotto, if it takes more than 45 minutes to get into the grotto the tour boat reserves the right to leave you there and return to port. Think about it, the rest of the tourists want to get on and continue with their day.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great activity and recommended just go in with your eyes open.
Capri lives on tourists and the prices are set for tourists and the rich. A Italian friend of mine said that if they can work out away to charge you for the air you breath they will.

Nice boat ride but didn't stop at Blue Grotto

Booked the boat ride online and have to collect paper tickets at dock n.0 once getting to Capri. Boat ride was nice with english and italian speaker explaining different points. Boat didnt stop at blue grotto though as they said the wait was too long so we got back to the start and off the boat and they said a different boat would take us there if we wanted
