Bareboat-charter i Capri

A bareboat charter in Capri gives you exclusive use of a vessel with no crew, placing all operational duties — navigation, anchoring, docking, fueling, and safety — entirely on you. To qualify, you must hold a valid, internationally recognized skipper's license that complies with local laws. If you lack the required credentials or experience, you can easily hire a professional local captain through our platform to handle the vessel for you.

In many destinations, you need a valid boating license or sailing qualification to book a bareboat charter. Requirements depend on the country, boat type, engine power, sailing area, and charter company. Some operators may also ask for proof of previous boating experience.

A bareboat charter in Capri means you rent the vessel alone and handle all navigation, docking, and safety duties yourself, which requires a valid license and sufficient experience. A skippered charter includes a professional captain who manages the boat, handles maritime safety, and plans local routes, making it the ideal choice if you lack the required credentials or simply prefer a stress-free experience on unfamiliar waters.

Yes, but availability depends heavily on the vessel class. Day rentals in Capri are widely available for smaller motorboats, rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), and day-cruisers, which are perfectly optimized for quick coastal runs. Conversely, larger sailing yachts and luxury catamarans generally require multi-day or Saturday-to-Saturday weekly minimums due to deep-cleaning protocols, comprehensive check-in orientations, and fleet insurance constraints.

A bareboat charter in Capri provides the vessel, essential safety and navigation gear, and sometimes a dinghy, but leaves operational expenses entirely to you. You are responsible for out-of-pocket costs such as fuel, overnight marina fees, port taxes, and the final post-charter cleaning. A mandatory refundable security deposit or insurance bond is also required at check-in to cover the vessel's hull deductible. Always review your selected boat's profile for an exact line-by-line breakdown of inclusions and extras before finalizing your dates.

Yes, most bareboat charters require a refundable security deposit before departure. The deposit covers potential damage, lost equipment, fuel differences, or insurance excess. The amount depends on the boat value, charter duration, and operator conditions.

Generally, no. Bareboat charters in Capri are reserved for certified mariners who can manage navigation, docking, and shifting currents. The only exception applies to ultra-compact, low-horsepower motorboats (such as license-free RIBs or day-boats) operated within strictly designated, shallow, and protected coastal zones where local laws permit it. For all standard sailing yachts, catamarans, and high-performance motor vessels, hiring a professional captain through our platform is mandatory if you lack formal licensing.

If damage occurs in Capri under your command, costs are initially deducted from your security deposit or covered via the vessel's hull insurance, depending on the fault assessment and your charter agreement. To protect yourself from liability for pre-existing issues, you must conduct a thorough, line-by-line check-in inspection with the base manager before departure, documenting any current wear or damage on the official check-in manifest.

Yes. If you have found the ideal vessel but prefer not to handle the navigation, docking, or anchoring yourself in Capri, you can easily add a professional local captain to your booking. Skipper services are highly flexible, available for a single day, specific intervals, or the entire duration of your charter. Simply select the captain add-on during checkout to secure a certified mariner who will manage all onboard logistics and local port compliances.

No, fuel is typically excluded from bareboat charters in Capri. You will generally receive the vessel with a full tank and are expected to return it at the same level, or you will be charged for the exact amount consumed during your trip. Always check your selected boat's specific fuel policy before booking, as terms vary by operator.
