Fishing charters in Capri

Question 1

What is included in a fishing charter in Capri?

Accepted Answer

Private fishing charters in Capri include a certified captain, local fishing licenses, fuel, high-end rods, tackle, bait, and mandatory safety equipment. Check your specific boat listing details to see if complimentary refreshments (snacks & drinks), catch cleaning, or hotel port transfers are included or available as add-ons.

Question 2

Do I need fishing experience to join a fishing charter?

Accepted Answer

No experience is required. Booking a private fishing charter in Capri gives your group exclusive use of the deck and a completely custom-paced day. Your professional captain coaches on everything from rigging high-end tackle and baiting hooks to setting trolling spreads and safely landing your catch. On a shared fishing charter, you purchase individual ticketed seats alongside outside anglers, while the crew manages the overarching lines and provides essential guidance to all guests.

Question 3

What types of fishing charters are available?

Accepted Answer

Whether you choose a high-end private charter or a budget-friendly shared charter, our fleet in Capri supports all major trip types. Available options include deep-sea fishing charters, reef fishing, bottom fishing, trolling, sport fishing, big game fishing, light tackle fishing, and relaxed family fishing trips. Your final selection will depend on the season, local water conditions, your specific target species, and your preferred duration on the open ocean.

Question 4

What fish can we catch in Capri?

Accepted Answer

Your catch in Capri depends on the season, water temperature, and fishing zone. Offshore waters feature elite game fish like tuna, mahi-mahi, marlin, sailfish, and wahoo, best targeted via a private charter for a custom itinerary. Closer to shore, reefs hold snapper, grouper, barracuda, amberjack, and local reef fish, which are ideal for both private groups and budget-friendly shared charters. Local captains will advise exactly what is biting during your travel dates.

Question 5

Can we keep the fish we catch?

Accepted Answer

Retention policies depend on local regulations, size limits, and individual boat policies. On a private charter in Capri, legal catches are typically yours to keep. However, to keep base booking prices low, some captains retain the catch and instead provide your group with fresh, shared fillets for dinner. On a shared charter, the legal catch is usually divided equally among the anglers or shared with the vessel. Your captain will clarify their specific catch-sharing policy before lines are dropped.

Question 6

Are fishing charters private or shared?

Accepted Answer

Fishing charters in Capri are available in both formats, depending on your budget and group size. Private charters grant your group exclusive use of the vessel, a fully customized itinerary, undivided crew coaching, and targeted trophy game fishing. Shared charters offer a budget-friendly, social alternative with individual ticketed seats, where the crew manages a collective line spread optimized for high-action reef species.

Question 7

How long is a fishing charter?

Accepted Answer

Charters in Capri are standardized into three distinct booking durations to maximize your time on the water. Half-Day Trips (4 Hours) are ideal for families and beginners, focusing on nearshore reefs with minimal travel times. Three-Quarter Day Trips (6 Hours) extend your range, allowing you to blend coastal bottom fishing with light offshore trolling. Full-Day Trips (8 Hours) are required for serious sport fishing, giving the vessel the necessary range to reach deep offshore drops where elite big game fish run.

Question 8

What should I bring on a fishing charter?

Accepted Answer

Although fishing equipment and licensing are standard inclusions across most global operations. For your personal packing list in Capri, prioritize polarized sunglasses, a hat, a light windbreaker, a camera, and non-marking, non-slip footwear. Bring your preferred snacks and beverages if they are not already included in your package and allowed by the charter operator. Lastly, pack motion sickness remedies and eco-friendly lotion sunscreen; aerosol sprays are restricted on many fleets due to deck staining and safety hazards.

Question 9

Are fishing charters suitable for children?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely, though suitability varies by age and vessel format. For younger families in Capri, shorter nearshore or reef trips are heavily recommended to guarantee calm waters and active catching. Private charters offer families maximum flexibility, private access to shaded seating and onboard restrooms, and a custom-paced itinerary. Shared charters are excellent for older, independent children but offer less flexibility regarding transit times and deck space.

Question 10

What happens if we do not catch fish?

Accepted Answer

Target success relies on natural variables like water temperatures and seasonal migration, meaning no professional captain can promise a specific catch. However, our experienced captains maximize your timing by deploying tournament-grade arrays and real-time tracking. On a trip around Capri, if target sport fish aren't biting, the crew's standard protocol is to adapt, shifting depths or techniques to target hard-fighting reef species, so your group still enjoys an exceptional day on the water.
